Experience:
Marie-France holds a law degree from
Université Laval and was admitted to the
Barreau du Québec in 1992. She began her career in private practice where she counseled and represented various property and casualty insurers and professional liability funds in court.
In 2004, she made the leap into the insurance industry and started working as a claims manager at a competing insurer before joining Desjardins in 2010.
Over the following years, Marie-France held a number of roles in P&C insurance at Desjardins. She's played a leadership role in the major transformations in the sector including the launch of the member/client experience program in 2012, the integration of State Farm's Canadian operations in 2015, the rollout of the business rule and process simplification initiative in 2016 and the creation of Desjardins Identity Protection in 2019.
In 2017, Marie-France took the reins at the Commercial Lines Division (DGIG) to implement the first part of the NeXT core business system and deploy the accelerated growth plan to better support Desjardins Business members.
In the spring of 2022, Marie-France took on a new challenge in the Wealth Management and Life and Health Insurance (WMLHI) Executive Division. Initially, she was responsible for Group and Business Insurance, but in the winter of 2023 her role came to include Group Retirement Savings. As a result, she's now in charge of the 2 group insurance business lines as Vice-President, Group Benefits and Retirement Savings.
She's known for her hands-on leadership style as well as her ability to build strong teams in periods of major change.
